What is a CAPS Beat Facilitator:

 An unpaid volunteer appointed by the Chicago Police who is a resident or stakeholder that lives or works in the beat. The Beat Facilitator works to make the police-community partnership as effective as possible. The Beat Facilitator serves as a “translator” or “communicator” between beat residents, stakeholders and the police.

 Beat 1324 meetings are held at 7pm the second Thursday of each month at the Goldblatt’s Building (Chicago and Ashland) 2010 dates are as follows:

Apr. 8

May 13

June 10

July 8

 Resources available via CAPS: 

·         Safety and Security Evaluation: FREE in home security assessments are available from professionals in the field by calling the CPD Prevention office at (312) 745-5838 x84652

·         CAPS workshops are being conducted on Jan.23,24,25 at 3510 S. Michigan Ave. from 9a-12:30p this FREE 3.5 hour seminar focuses on topics including Burglary prevention, troubled buildings, Gang awareness and what you can do as a resident to protect yourself ( I attended this workshop and it was very informative and useful).

·         The CLEARPATH system available at www.chicagopolice.org is a tool citizens can use to communicate quickly and anonymously with law enforcement and track action on those concerns.
